SUMMARY:Film Screenings & Round Table “Armenian–Turkish Dialogue” with Serge Avédikian and Burçin Gerçek
\nLangues: anglais / français \nS’inscrire ici \nEN \nTrauma\, Historical Memory and Dialogue.  How societies come to terms with difficult and violent pasts – and whether dialogue is possible where history divides. \nFilm Screenings & Round Table “Armenian–Turkish Dialogue” featuring filmmaker Serge Avédikian and journalist Burcin Gercek \nThe programme includes screenings of two documentary films followed by a discussion: \n“Retour à Sölöz”Turkey\, present day. A French filmmaker of Armenian origin returns to his roots.Four times over three decades – from 1987 to 2019 – Serge Avédikian travels back to Sölöz\, his grandparents’ village located 170 km south of Istanbul. These returns form a powerful reflection on identity\, historical truth\, and the possibility of reconciliation. \n“Chienne d’histoire”Constantinople\, 1910. The city is overrun with stray dogs. A newly established government\, influenced by Western models\, first seeks advice from European experts before ultimately deciding to deport 30\,000 dogs to a deserted island off the coast.Through the dual perspective of a mother dog and the gendarme who captures her\, the film unfolds as a story of forced exile in which most of the animals perish from hunger and thirst. \nAn evening about trauma\, memory\, and human lives on both sides of history.About how people continue to live with it — and whether dialogue remains possible. \nEvent languages: English and French. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:Trauma-informed approach to historical memory and current tragedies
DESCRIPTION:In 2026 our world is facing many social\, political\, economical challenges and there is an ongoing question: what can be done to resolve them and what can we do to restore ourselves after facing “major historical events” around ourselves. \nIs it helpful to look at historical events as collective traumas? What are the ways to deal with social\, political and economical consequences of wars\, conflicts and genocides if we add trauma-informed perspective. \nAre there success-stories and good experience in dealing with historical traumas and collective tragedies: \nDialogue\, \nReconciliation\, \nPeace building \nPeace education \nLessons learned from denazfication in Germany and if this can be somehow applied to a Russian invasion to Ukraine. \nRegister here
