Animated film night with Irina Litmanovich
\n  \nOn March 27\, we will host a meeting with the wonderful artist and animator IRINA LITMANOVICH. \nIrina Litmanovich’s films are quiet\, witty\, and deeply human. They seem to be drawn not only by hand\, but also with a careful eye for life: for the small absurd moments of everyday life\, for people’s oddities\, and for the funny and touching things we often overlook. \nLitmanovich is a director\, an artist\, and a storyteller at the same time. She creates animation where every line and every pause matters. Among her works are the ironic and gently philosophical films Khelm Customs\, Domestic Romance\, and the recent film An Unwritten Play: One Day in the Life of a Playwright. \nIt is a rare kind of animation that feels like a good short story — a little funny\, a little sad\, and very precise. \nAfter the screening\, we will talk with Irina about her films\, about how these stories come to life\, and about the art of independent animation. You will also have the opportunity to purchase some of her original artworks. \nAll films will be shown in Russian with English subtitles. \nPlease register here. You donations are welcome.

SUMMARY:Conversation with Andrey Loshak - The Age of Dissent 2
DESCRIPTION:Join us on 16 February for a screening and discussion with acclaimed journalist and filmmaker Andrey Loshak. \nOn the eve of the 2018 presidential election\, he released his groundbreaking series The Age of Dissent — a portrait of young supporters of Alexei Navalny who took part in his campaign. In the sequel\, The Age of Dissent 2\, Loshak follows how\, over the past six years\, the lives of these activists have changed dramatically — those who once dreamed\, together with Navalny\, of a “beautiful Russia of the future.” \nFilming was nearly complete when news broke of the politician’s death. The film’s protagonists now face a painful question: how to live without a dream or hope.
